Past Events FROM FIELD TO FORK 2021–It was a Drive-Through This event featured a delicious meal created by local chefs using produce from Ventura County fields and orchards. Meals were picked up by guests at a special drive through set up at McGrath Family Farms, where they were greeted by Santa Paula High School FFA students and singer Kaylanie Barrera in the Radio Lazer Booth. Guests were then invited to return home to dine and enjoy the rest of the “From Field to Fork” farmworker celebration virtually via online viewing. An event highlight was the announcement of House Farm Workers! 2021 Ellen Brokaw Scholarship winners, Litzy Hernandez, Jesus Martinez and Bryan Rodriguez. In 2021, our “From Field to Fork” event raised $60,000 in support of local farmworker housing. MISSED OUR 2021 VIRTUAL EVENT? WATCH THE FULL EVENT BELOW: YOUR SUPPORT HELPS FARM WORKERS IN VENTURA COUNTY Although they are essential workers, the men and women who tend and harvest Ventura County’s crops find it very difficult to afford the region’s extremely high housing costs. Too often they pay high rents to live under overcrowded conditions that jeopardize their health and disrupt their children’s education. House Farm Workers! addresses this by educating the public and community leaders about the need for more safe, decent and affordable farmworker housing, and by advocating for its construction. Proceeds from our From Field to Fork dinner will fund the critical education and advocacy efforts of House Farm Workers!
